Your Water: Interesting Facts You Should Know

Do you know what percentage of your own body is made up of water? Well the answer is approximately 70 percent. Everyone knows that water is vital to our survival, but are you aware of some of the other interesting facts about water? Here are some additional water facts that I think you will find interesting:

A new born baby’s body weight is approximately 80 percent water.

A healthy person can consume about three gallons of water a day.

It is recommended that every person drink at least eight cups of water per day. You can obtain your daily water allowance in all different forms- nearly every food or drink item provides some amount of water to the body.

Too much water however can become dangerous. If you drink too much water or drink it too quickly it can lead to a condition known as water intoxication. This occurs when water dilutes the sodium level in the bloodstream and creates an imbalance of water in the brain. Water intoxication occurs more often in athletes during intense athletic activity.

Caffeinated drinks such as coffee, soft drinks, and tea are made up almost entirely of water. Avoid drinking too much of these beverages and the caffeine can act as a mild diuretic which prevents water from reaching vital parts of the body.

Once a person feels thirsty, he or she has already lost over 1 percent of the body’s total water amount.

Improve the health benefit of your drinking water by installing a water filtration system in your home. Call Crystal Clear Water Treatment and request a free in-home water analysis.

Can You Smell The Chlorine In Your Water?

Is your water provided to you by the city or county? If so, then you are drinking chlorinated water. It is common knowledge that chlorine is added to the water supply by cities and municipalities to guarantee bacteria free water for all of your drinking, cooking, cleaning, and bathing needs. It only takes a small amount of chlorine to make your water safe, but for precautionary reasons, most people’s water is actually over-chlorinated. These high levels of chlorine can give your drinking water an unpleasant odor and taste. Additionally, too much chlorine can also cause skin discomfort and burning of the eyes in some sensitive people.

Two ways exist to treat chlorine removal from your home: you can install a sink fitration system or a whole house water filtration system. A sink filtration system is a small unit mounted underneath the sink that provides chlorine-free drinking water and cooking water. In addition to filtering your kitchen water, a whole house water filtration system will also provide chlorine free water for your showers, baths and even washing your clothes.

Crystal Clear Water can perform a complimentary in-home water evaluation that will help you determine which filtration system is best for your home.

Have You Ever Wondered Where Our Water Comes From?

Your hot, you just come in from your yard in July to pour yourself a cold glass of water from your tap. But, have you ever wondered exactly where that water comes from? I’m not referring to your well or your city water system, but I mean where it REALLY comes from.  Did you know that the water we drink is in a constant process of naturally re-cycling?

Water from lakes and rivers, along with moisture from trees and plants is evaporated by the sun and turned into vapor in the atmosphere. It rises and forms into clouds and is then released back into the earth as precipitation in the form of rain, snow, hail and even sleet.

Once the water reaches the earth’s surface it has two possibilities. It will either become surface water or ground water. Surface water runs into rivers and lakes and starts the process again of being evaporated and repeating the water cycle. Ground water is absorbed by the soil and the rocks. So, if you think about it, the water you are drinking has been around for millions of years.

It’s shocking to think that the amount of water on earth today is the same as it was millions of years ago because of the hydro-cycle. The hydro-cycle is never ending as it purifies our water by evaporation (distillation). While this system used to adquately provide plenty of good quality water, with all the modern changes in agriculture and the world’s rise in manufacturing, potentially hazardous materials are constantly being released into our environment and into our water.

If you have any concerns about the quality of your drinking water, call Crystal Clear Water Treatment. We will perform a complimentary in-house water analysis and offer solutions for your water treatment needs.

When you are sitting in your home watching a movie and enjoying the evening, has it ever crossed your mind that you may be breathing air that is really contaminated? It is certainly not uncommon  to read or hear about air pollution in our city and all around us, so why would you not question the air quality in your own home? Believe it or not, the air inside your home can actually contain more pollutants than the air your breath outside.

Almost all of the homes in our country have at least one of the six common indoor air quality problems whether it is particle allergens, chemical pollutants, carbon dioxide, humidity, temperature, or carbon monoxide. The most prevalent of all of these is particle allergens which include dust, dander, pollen, spores, or bacteria. Many of these contaminants can cause respiratory problems, allergic reations, or even asthma attacks.

Having pets in your home as well as smoking can further add to the risk of your air quality. Crystal Clear Water Treamtent offers a free in-home air analysis. It will take very little time and you can either learn that your air quality is in a good range or that you have some contaminants. Do You Know The Quality Of Your Water? Ever Had It Tested?

You turn on the tap and get a glass of water. It seems fine. But have you ever wondered if your water was safe to drink? Stories are constantly being heard on the news about contaminated water sources and unknown dangers of household drinking water. Look for yourself on the web for stories about unsafe water/water quality. Whether you have a private well or your water comes from a regulated public source, your drinking water can still contain contaminants and impurities.

Have you ever considered the condition of your own water pipes? Many people don’t realize that in addition to water being contaminated at the source, water travels in some cases a long way from its source through  a series of pipes that support an area through to your own pipes before entering your home and contamination can occur along this route. As water circulates through your pipes, unwanted chemicals, minerals and other pollutants are often picked up by the water as it travels leaving your water contaminanted.  In some cases, you may notice an unpleasant odor and even a bitter taste, but not always.

Identifying these potential problems is not easy to determine on your own since many of the problems are not always visible. If you have any concerns or are even just curious about the quality of your family’s water quality, please contact Crystal Clear Water Treatment for a free in-home analysis. Yes, it is free with absolutely no obligation. If you ever looked at a glass of water poured from your tap and wondered what all was in it, we can test it and tell you. Within approximately 15 minutes, we can test your water, and provide a solution(s) to correct any existing problems you may have. We will identify contaminants in your home’s water and make a recommendation to solve any problems should we find any to ensure the quality of your drinking water.  Just think, if your water quality is good, and there is no need for any treatment, it didn’t cost you a thing and now you have the peace of mind of knowing your water quality is good. So to get it tested, please give us a call to schedule your appointment. We have two locations to serve a greater area.

What Is Required To Maintain Your Water Filtration System?

It’s a very good feeling when you drink a tall, cold glass of truly clean water, and if you have a water filtration system in your home then you know what I’m talking about. But just as you take care of your home and all of its appliances as well as your car, it is extremely important to maintain your water filtration system to ensure that you continue to drink safe, pure water.

There are two distinct benefits of having your water filtration system serviced regularly. First, it will maximize the system’s functionality. Comparing this to your car, if you continue to operate your car without having regular oil and filter changes, you will experience the car not performing the same and if you never have it serviced, you will ultimately do damage to your car. The very same model applies for your water filtration system. Second, proper maintenance will most definitely lengthen the lifespan of your of your filtration system. At Crystal Clear Water Treatment, we will help you keep your water filtration system working properly as long as you have it maintained at the recommended frequency. The frequency is determined by by a few factors including raw water quality, volume of water consumed, and the type(s) of water problems that exist. The service call includes a one of our service technicians coming to your home or business and will first visually assess the system for any obvious issues and will then proceed to check all of the mechanical parts. Your water will be tested to be sure the system is working properly. This step includes checking all mineral levels and making sure the mineral balance is correct. At this point, the technician will most likely remove saturated mineral and will replace it with fresh mineral. The final step is to place the system in backwash, reset timers, and then test the water again prior to leaving.

This entire process can take from 20 minutes up to 60+ minutes depending on the degree of difficulty in working on the system combined with what all needs to be completed during that particular service call. This is not very long at all to ensure that your water filtration system is filtering your water properly. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your water filtration system, call Crystal Clear Water Treatment. We have two offices to serve you.

Have You Ever Wondered if You Have Traces of Iron in Your Water?

Here is a science lesson for you. Did you know that iron is one of the earth’s most plentiful resources and accounts for at least five percent of the earth’s crust? This fact is why iron is often present in well water which unfortunately can frequently become troublesome when it’s mixed into our water supply.

There are a wide variety of problems that can result when iron is present in the water. From a cosmetic point of view, they can leave ugly brown and orange stains that can ruin clothes, sheets, and towels. These stains can also make sinks, bathtubs, showers, and toliets look dirty. Often, water with trace iron can have a very disagreeable metallic taste.  From a financial perspective, water with trace iron can often drastically shorten the lifespan of household appliances which leads to costly repairs and replacement.

There are two forms that can be present in your water, ferrous (soluble) and ferric (insoluble). Both types of iron can pose problems to your home. It is important to clearly identify what type of iron is present to ensure that the proper treatment system is selected for the best results. If you think you have iron in your water supply, an in-home water analysis is the best solution to determine what problems you may have.

Crystal Clear Water Treatment can conduct a free in-home water analysis to identify iron and other possible contaminants in your water. Based on our findings, we can make a recommendation for an effective solution for your home to protect you, your family, and your appliances.

Free Water Analysis

Have you ever seriously considered the quality of the water that comes out of your tap? Can you tell the difference in taste between bottled water and your tap water? Have you ever poured a glass of water and wondered what was really in it? I’m sure you have heard or read in the news the growing concerns about drinking water, and there is definitely some cause for concern. Whether you get your tap water from a public source or if you have your own private well in your backyard, there may be issues with both.

First, if you do get your water from a public source, it definitely meets the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) Primary Drinking Standards. However, from the source that it is treated until it reaches your home, your drinking water can still contain contaminants and impurities outside the control of your city’s water suplier.  One of the main sources of contamination can be your own home’s pipes. As water travels through your pipes, unwanted chemicals, minerals and other pollutants can be picked up leaving your water with an unpleasant odor and a bad taste. While identifying these problems can sometimes be easy, often times the problems are not so readily apparent.

Any taste issues, visible particles, and odor should be a cause for concern. Knowing this, are you now interested in learning more about the quality of the water in your home? If so, please contact Crystal Clear Water Treatment for a FREE in-home water analysis. We can determine any problems with your drinking water and recommend the appropriate solution.

Have You Ever Wondered About The Quality Of Your Indoor Air?

Many factors exist that determine the quality of the air we breathe indoors. Knowing that we all spend the majority of time indoors, we really should be just as concerned about the air quality inside our homes as much as we are about the air we breath outside.  The biggest culprits preventing us from enjoying clean air indoors are objects that emit gases or particles, poor ventilation, and allergens that can become trapped in your home. However, we do have some recommendations that are easy to improve your indoor air quality including:

1. Use ceiling fans throughout your home.

2. Clean your air vents regularly.

3. Open doors and windows frequently.

4. Keep floors and rugs vacuumed frequently especially if there are pets.

5. Have someone inspect all piping in your home and have any old pipes properly sealed that could potentially be leaking pollutants into your home.

6. Be sure windows are open when any painting is taking place.

7. Do not store any harmful chemicals inside your home.

8. Be sure to change your air filters on your HVAC system regularly.

9. Regularly clean air vents.

These are just some suggestions that will help with improving the air quality in your home. However, you could have the biggest impact on your air quality by installing an air purifier system in your home. You can learn about them on Crystal Clear Water’s website or by calling to the office with any questions about them. A system would definitely benefit your family.
