Chlorine

Chlorine is added to the water supply by cities and municipalities to guarantee that the water being provided for drinking, cooking, and bathing is bacteria free. However, the amount of chlorine often meets or exceeds the levels found in swimming pools. It only takes a small amount of chlorine to make water potable, i.e. safe to drink, but municipalities and cities often over-chlorinate as a precaution.

High chlorine levels can give water an unpleasant odor and taste. Chlorine can also cause skin discomfort and burning of the eyes in sensitive people. Consumers have two choices when it comes to chlorine removal: whole house filtration or sink filtration. With sink filtration, a small unit is installed underneath the sink, providing chlorine-free drinking and cooking water. However, since chlorine is absorbed through the skin while bathing, a whole-house unit is the preferred method of filtration. A complimentary in-home water evaluation from Crystal Clear Water Treatment will determine which filtration approach is best.
